Australia leads the points table with 2 wins and 9 points whereas India is on 2nd standing with 4 points. Srilanka is at the bottom with two matches lost. India is at the bottom in terms of net run rate but this would not make any significance at this stage of the series.
About the overall batting performances so far, Virat Kohli stands on the top with 108 runs followed by Chandimal with 101 runs. Highest scorer so far from Australia has been David Hussey with 88 runs in 2 innings. As far as bowling is concerned Australia’s McKay leads the table with 5 wickets followed by his teammate Doherty with 4 wickets.
Sachin Tendulkar scored a good 40 plus score against Srilanka and this brought him back in rhythm. This can prove vital if he continues from there and bats against Australia. Who knows if Adelaide is the ground his destiny has chosen to take him to his 100th International century. Indian batting looked better in the last match and bowling looked much better.
A similar performance is needed from the Indians where they should restrict Australia to a low total. A better contribution is expected from the upper batting order of India. Similar is the concern of Australia where the top order seems to be in a dormant mode right now. Ponting has failed again and this time against Srilanka. He would be under a scanner whereas good knocks were seen from Hussey brothers and also skipper Clarke.
Let us hope for another cracker here at Adelaide as India takes on Australia in match 4 of CB Series 2012.
