Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings Final IPL 5 2012

The second match of Monday’s crucial IPL double header comes from Eden Gardens in Kolkata as the Kolkata Knight Riders take on the Chennai Super Kings in what is a huge match for both sides. Both sides are in the top four at the start of the day but nobody can afford to lose with so many teams breathing down their necks for places in the semi finals. Chennai are the 10/11 favourites for this match with Skybet.

Kolkata were on an excellent run but that came to a heavy end on Saturday when the Mumbai Indians left Eden Gardens with a comprehensive win after Kolkata’s bowlers were carted to all parts before their batting was tied down with some accurate bowling not least from Lasith Malinga. One positive from that match for the Knight Riders was the return to form of Yusuf Pathan although many Kolkata fans will be thinking it was about time.

Chennai come into the match off the back of their best win in the tournament so far having completely demolished leaders Delhi Daredevils last time out. Chennai will feel confident coming into this match too because they have a perfect bowling attack for the conditions. Their batsmen are just showing signs of coming back to form as well which is a massive boost for them and if it all comes together again they will be dangerous here.

I just about favour Chennai in this match. Their plethora of quality spinners could really put the squeeze on the Kolkata batsmen while with the bat they have some excellent players of spin themselves which will be important when facing Sunil Narine. Kolkata’s batting isn’t likely to take a game away from Chennai but if the likes of Raina, Bravo or Dhoni get going they could take it away from Kolkata which leads me to taking the Super Kings here.
